Psychedelica
One of my fave cafes in Hiroshima is Panorama Cafe. Tucked away in the backstreets, the cafe is an inviting grotto of psychedelic colour and Indian flair. Old mismatching sofas make comfy reading nooks, and beneath the latticed window two overstuffed antique lounges create an excellent place to catch up on gossip with friends. Under the staircase is a curtained nest for lovers, abundant with hot pink scatter-cushions and drapes. Lamps of all colours are illuminated and light up the hologramic wallpaper with a trippy sheen. When I visited with friends Yume and Crazy Aya (above), psytrance* bleeped from the speakers.* Sir S and I played cards here during the Yuletide season, whilst snow flurried against the pane, and reggae Christmas carols evoked a contradictory beachy holiday atmos.
